Spanish Interpreter

Chesapeake Care Clinic

Mission:  To provide medical and dental services to low-income and underserved individuals in our community.

Connection to Mission: The Spanish Interpreter will assist clinic staff in communicating with the clinic’s Spanish speaking patients.

Essential Duties:

• To successfully provide interpretation services for patients with Spanish as their primary language .
• To provide professional phone communication including knowledge of Chesapeake Care’s eligibility requirements.
• Observe different medical/dental/pharmaceutical procedures and treatments to facilitate and develop an understanding of the steps followed in each one of them to anticipate interpreting strategies/vocabulary during appointments with Spanish-speaking patients.
• To have Spanish versions of all pertinent clinic documents to share with Spanish-speaking patients.

General Duties:

• Treat patients with respect and compassion
• Positive interaction with patients, providers and staff
• Follow all policies and procedures and represent the clinic in a professional manner
• Maintain a clean workplace

Time Commitment:

• 10 hours a week
• Flexible schedule between Tuesday-Thursday 9am-5pm
